Initiation / Ordination

For many people it becomes clear that they want to participate more fully in the life of the Sangha, express their commitment to the Three Jewels or deepening their Going for Refuge by receiving the Buddhist Precepts, the Buddha’s Robe, and a New Name for their Journey.

Two ceremonies in Zen Buddhism facilitate this ‘thirst for the dharma’, namely, Jukai and Shukke Tokudo. Both require some preparation and much personal contact with the teacher – in this case, Ingen.

Hi D – both Jukai and Shukke Tokudo ‘require some preparation and much contact with the teacher’. It’s not so much a matter of ‘booking’ as of going ahead with the ceremony when the conditions are ripe.
